Year 4 Pioneers Camp

The summer term is Pioneer term for Year 4 children.  As well as regular activities throughout the term, last week the Year 4 went to Mill on the Brue in Bruton for two nights of camping and two days of outdoor activities such as zip wire, assault course, canoeing and archery.  The main aims of Pioneers are to try something new, encourage more independence and team building and these were witnessed in abundance throughout the trip.  When camping the children were silent from 10.30 on both nights until they were woken up at 7am and were easily the best campers Mrs Webster has seen in 9 years of Pioneers.

Chafyn Grove was one of only a handful of schools to be awarded ‘Zero Hero’ wristbands and a certificate because they cleared every plate at meal times and did not waste one single gram of food for their entire stay – a fantastic achievement!  The children were a credit to the school with excellent manners and good spirit throughout, earning the respect from Mill on the Brue staff and their teachers.

Well done Yr 4!
