Charity of the Term - Macmillan Cancer Support

The chosen charity of the Autumn term at Chafyn Grove was ‘Macmillan Cancer Support’, a charity which aims to support not just cancer sufferers themselves, but also carers, families and communities affected by the disease.

The main fund raising activity was the Chafyn Grove take on the Macmillan coffee ‘morning’; the school’s version took place on the last Saturday afternoon of the term when the Eights’ sports matches were being played and was a fantastic success. Thanks to the efforts of the Chafyn kitchen staff, the children and a number of the teaching staff, the school performance hall was transformed into a very pleasant ‘café’. However, none of this would have been possible without the generosity of the parents, who not only sent in a huge number of cakes, they then came into school to make donations and ate them too!

Other funds were raised through various collections and further donations, meaning that a cheque for £1,818.85 was given to Macmillan Cancer Support – a fantastic effort by the whole school community!
