A successful first outing by the CGS Athletics Team

Chafyn took 18 pupils to compete at the annual Kings College Taunton Athletics meeting on Sunday 10th May. It was a very enjoyable afternoon and it was a very encouraging display from the entire team, with all athletes performing really well.

Individual medal winners were the following:
Izzy V. had a fantastic day winning 2 gold medals in both the 75m Hurdles and Long Jump.   Amelia L. also performed superbly gaining 2 gold medals by winning both the High Jump and 80m sprint.  William M. enjoyed a highly successful day winning the 150m and also silver in the High Jump.  Millie R. put in a great performance to win the Rounders ball throw.  Oli CS. ran a storming race to win the 600m and also picked up silver in the Cricket ball throw.  Hal L. enjoyed a good afternoon gaining silver in the Triple Jump and a bronze in the 100m.   Angus B. jumped well and deservedly picked up silver in the Long jump.  Tom CS. ran well in the 800m to pick up silver.   Thomas N. also had a good day achieving a bronze in the 75m Hurdles. 

Relay medal winners were the following:
4 x 100m Girls Open Relay Winners (Carla G., Polly C., Riya P., and Izzy V.)
4 x 50m Boys U12 Shuttle Relay Silver (Oli CS., William M., Angus B,. and Ben HG.)
4 x 100m Boys Open Relay Silver (Thomas N., Tom CS., Will H., and Hal L.)
This was a great introduction to the Athletics season and hopefully the start of what could be a very promising season. Well done to all competitors, also parents for supporting throughout the day and Mr Newton for his help.
