CHAFYN GROVE - SALISBURY
Twenty eight Chafyn Grove boys and girls travelled to Limerick in Ireland for a week of rugby, hockey and fun filled activities. Their itinerary included a trip to Roller Jam where the thrill seekers of the group had opportunity to show off their roller blading prowess, an evening that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The group also enjoyed a very inspirational and educational visit to St Johns Castle in Limerik, with cross curricular links with both Geography and History. Other excursions included Swimming at Grove Island, ten-pin bowling, Mr Renham’s enthralling quiz, a morning at Kilaloe adventure centre and a tour of Munster Stadium where the boys got a glimpse of what it is like to be a professional Rugby player. The whole tour party also had an excellent evening at Thomond Park watching the Heineken cup match between Munster and Saracens.
Both teams had the luxury of following in professional teams’ footsteps by training at Limerick University on Astroturf and 3G facilities. Three games of Rugby and Hockey followed, with both teams performing superbly well. The girls enjoyed great success on tour winning all their games despatching Lauren Hill Colaiste, Villiers with consummate ease and winning a very tight contest against Crescent College. Despite only winning one of their 3 matches, the boys, to their credit, played some truly entertaining and brave rugby, unfortunately age, size and speed gave the opposition the edge.
All pupils were exceptionally well behaved and were a real credit to the school.
