U11s make it to the IAPS Hockey Nationals!

The girls had a great day. We started with the group matches and got off to a good start against The Downs School which we won 2-0. We then completed our group matches against Taunton Prep, All Hallows, Inglefield Prep and Castle Court by winning them all and coming top of our group.

In the quarter finals we came up against Blundells School, where we took our foot off the pedal slightly. They scored first which meant we had to dig deep for an equaliser. This came with a well worked short corner. The game then went into extra time after which we were still 1-1. It was 'Penalty Shuffle' time. After a very nail biting, teary period of time we came out on top wining 3-2. We even had parents pacing up and down whilst pretending not to watch! This was our primary goal of the day - WE HAD QUALIFIED - yippee!  Immediately after we had to compose ourselves to play in the semi finals against Lambrook and then we met Millfield in the finals. Coming home with a silver medal was a tremendous achievement by the girls.

The girls had an exhausting day, full of tension and excitement. The whole squad contributed to this success and we witnessed some great goalkeeping, perfect timing in defence, unselfish passing in midfield and snappy shots at goal.   Well done girls - we're very proud. Repton here we come!
