Lewis Moody Foundation

Chafyn Grove were very proud to hand over a cheque for £5,697.33 for the Lewis Moody Foundation in memory of Dave Syrett who was a very dear friend, colleague and teacher to many at Chafyn Grove.  This incredible amount was raised by two pupils hosting a cake sale, a pupil doing a ‘Stepathon’, Year 8 hosting a charity day as well as the whole school taking part in a sponsored walk.

All the children from Nursery upwards joined in, and we had a very hot, but fun walk, with scavenger hunts and eye spy photo competitions en-route.  Each group consisted of children from each year in the school, with the older children helping the younger children follow the six mile route.

Lewis Moody MBE said “Hearing the amazing effort people go to, to raise funds in memory of colleagues and friends like Dave Syrett, who have tragically lost their lives to a brain tumour, is a real inspiration to us. We are extremely grateful to receive such a fantastic sum to support the work of The Lewis Moody Foundation from Chafyn Grove school and know that this money will help make a difference to other families whose lives have been affected by the devastating diagnosis of a brain tumour.  Our very grateful thanks go to everyone who took part”

A huge thank you to Salisbury Rugby Club who were very generous and let us use their facilities for our picnic lunch, and also to one of our parents who very kindly brought an ice lolly for each child to have at the halfway point. It was also thoughtful of Prince Charles to arrange a flight of helicopters overhead just as we finished the lollies!
