Charity Day

On Tuesday, our Year 8 children hosted Charity Day. This term we have been supporting the Lewis Moody Foundation, a charity which supports sufferers of brain tumours and their families. Having organized marketing campaigns, planned shopping trips they set up their various events. Children from the rest of the school spent lunchtime enjoying a range of activities. Some of these were a continuation of the ‘Enterprise’ groups – the Dragons’ Den style small businesses which the children have been developing over much of the last year under the careful tutelage of Mme Nicklin and Mrs Barnes. These included Fro Yo, Game On and A to Z. Some of the groups had ‘diversified’ and extra activities on Tuesday included a lucky dip, guess the number of sweets in the jar, a 2 v 2 football challenge, milkshakes, chocolate skewers, the multi-ball cross bar challenge and, of course, splat the teacher.

The weather was just about kind to us, lots of fun was had and lots of money was raised. We won’t know quite how much has been raised yet and totals will be announced later in the term; however, I must say a big thank you to the staff for their help (particularly those who braved a splatting), a huge well done to the children from Pre-Prep to Year 7 who seemed to have a thoroughly great time and, finally, a massive congratulations to Year 8 for organizing a brilliant event.
