CHAFYN GROVE - SALISBURY
Year 3 had a lovely morning at the Harnham Water Meadows yesterday. We tested our map reading skills to find our way down to the water meadows using Ordnance survey maps. Despite the showers, the children described the experience as ‘so much fun’! They enjoyed learning about the ‘drowning’ of the meadows and were soon able to tell the difference between a ‘bunny’ and ‘triple lock’ hatch. (The hatches control the flow of water onto the meadows.) Sightings of swans with cygnets, Canada geese with goslings and several snow-white Little Egrets added to the excitement. All the children returned to school with a great understanding of this special spot in our city.
