Opal Coast Trip 2017

The last week of term, Year 6 ventured across the Channel for a fascinating 4 days in Northern France.  All pupils were able to practice their French in the marketplace in Boulogne where they purchased food for their picnic lunch.  They saw firsthand how sweets, croissants and goat’s cheese are made during visits to the Becasuc Sweet factory, La Boulangerie Fournil and La Chèvrerie Montcavrel. 

At La Maison du Marais, we took a peaceful canal boat ride through the marshes and learned how man has depended on the marshes for centuries.  A real highlight was visiting the sea-life centre, Nausicaa, where the children got to touch rays and marvel at the beautiful aquariums.  
The meals at Hôtel du Moulin aux Draps offered authentic French cuisine which was delicious.  The children impressed everyone by eating their way through 150 escargots in 10 minutes!
