U10 boys at National Rugby Finals

On Sunday, 12 year 5 boys (and a huge following of parents, siblings and grandparents), travelled to Epsom College for the National Schools Rugby Finals. The ‘tournament’ was slightly strange in that, due to RFU rulings, there were no actual finals; however, competition was no less fierce and the boys played four tough games.

First up was The New Beacon, who were beaten 3 tries to 2, Austin (2), and Xander were the scorers. Next came a tight, physical defeat, 2 tries to 1, against eventual group winners St Faith’s (our try scored by Henry). Next came an impressive win against Milbourne Lodge, 3 tries to one (scorers were Austin, Henry and Connor). The final match was against a very strong Stamford side. We played some outstanding rugby and looked the better side for much of the contest. Unfortunately, we came up just short, Austin scoring our only try in a 2 – 1 defeat.

The boys finished third in the group and can be very proud of the rugby they played and the good behaviour and sportsmanship they demonstrated on the way.
