History workshopYear 6 started their topic on Thomas Becket with a dramatic workshop. Part of the attic in the Grovely building was turned into a Medieval cathedral and the children were taken upstairs and back in time.....
Orchestra Jazz Band 052The Orchestra & Jazz Band played in an exciting concert at Salisbury Arts Centre on Tuesday 17th January.  This is a beautiful setting for concerts and it is wonderful for our musicians to play outside of school.

New Pre-prep building visit 032Just before the end of term, budding Year 2 project managers, architects and builders paid a visit to the new Pre-Prep building to see what their new classrooms will look like.....

Dr Who 005John Levene, aka Sgt Benton of Dr Who - The Classic Series, a Salisbury born actor, came in to talk to Chafyn Grove School about his life and time in Hollywood. Most importantly, he talked about his experience as the commander of The Unit in Doctor Who.....
Year One enjoyed a fabulous 'night walk' on November 15th.  Armed with torches, teachers and children set off into the school grounds at dusk and waited for darkness to descend, then the fun could really start!
Remembrance 003On Friday 11th November 2011, Chafyn Grove remembered all those who have given their lives for our country in the wars and specifically the 27 former Chafyn Grove pupils and staff who died in WWI and WWII....

1st VII - Bryanston WinnersColts - Canford WinnersThe second half of term started well with victories in two major public school tournaments. The 1st team hockey players went to Bryanston where they beat FSM in the final 1-0. The Colts rugby team went to Canford where they beat Sunninghill 14-12 in their final.

Tank Museum 011On Wednesday 2nd November, very excited Year 4s set off on a trip, dressed as 1940's war evacuees with labels attached to their clothes so they could be identified, carrying their gas mask boxes and identity cards, with no idea where they were going! As one pupil said, "When I woke up I felt like a real evacuee and I was really going to be evacuated."....

Fire engine visitEarly Years' visit from the fire service this week was made all the more dramatic when the fire fighters were called out on an emergency half-way through their activities. It gave the children an insight into a 'real life' emergency, with hasty undressing of Mrs Jenkins who was all dressed up in firefighter clothes, all crew jumping on board and the fire engine setting off with sirens blazing....

On Saturday 17th September 2011, the Chafyn Grove staff along with some parents and pupils walked/ran in memory of Horatio Chapple....
