Year 6 started their topic on Thomas Becket with a dramatic workshop. Part of the attic in the Grovely building was turned into a Medieval cathedral and the children were taken upstairs and back in time. They were greeted with a murder scene; a dead man with a bloody head and Gregorian chanting in the background. The children had to search the murder scene for clues written on pieces of parchment. Working together they gradually had to piece together accounts from witnesses, letters and diary entries to work out who the man was, what the date was, how he had been murdered and why he had been murdered. It was exciting to hear the children discovering evidence, acting as detectives and piecing together the clues.
