LatestChessNewsThe Chafyn Grove Chess team has just competed in Wiltshire's biggest Junior Chess tournament. Eighteen teams of four players each from schools all around Wiltshire took part in the all day competition at Highworth, beyond Swindon.
Pioneers3Pupils in Year 4 at Chafyn Grove School have recently returned from their annual 'Pioneer Camp'. Every Summer Term the whole year group along with their intrepid teachers, spend two nights camping in Knighton Wood near Broadchalke.
TourdeFranceChildren in the Early Years Department at Chafyn Grove School have been exploring different cultures and countries in the topic 'Around the World'.  Last week the children explored France, sampling French food, learning some simple phrases, and playing some traditional games such as boules.  The highlight of the week was a mini 'Tour de France' where children brought their own bikes in to school for a cycle ride around the grounds, circumnavigating some famous landmarks including the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Arc de Triumph and ending with a climb up through the Alps.

AuthorVisitAt the beginning of May the children in Years 3, 4 and 5 had a visit from Annabel Claridge, a local author who has written two books based on the adventures of a dog called Bo. The books tell the story of Bo's time travelling exploits and are full of well-researched historical detail.
Maths 1Pupils from Chafyn Grove are seen celebrating their recent success in the 'Monkton Combe Maths and Science Challenge'. Eight children from Year 6 spent a fun filled day in the newly built Maths and Science Centre at Monkton Combe Senior School, competing against ten other schools in a range of challenges.
Group OAt the end of April, a team from Chafyn Grove School competed in the 'Dorset Schools Score Championships' at Moors Valley. This event was the last in a series of 8 events, which made up the Dorset Schools Orienteering League.
Parachute TeamThere was great excitement at Chafyn Grove School when 'The Black Knights', the official parachute display team for the The Royal Artillery, quite literally 'dropped in' after lunch.
