We pride ourselves on being a school that doesn’t have a favourite feeder school; rather we aim to help you send your child to a school that suits them, fulfils their needs and plays to the strengths that they have developed at Chafyn.
Most of our pupils leave at 13; they go to a wide range of senior schools - in the last 3 years they have moved on to approximately 30 different senior schools.
You won’t be on your own choosing a school; with sound advice from the Headmaster we aim to make you feel comfortable about choosing the next school for your child. Pupils will either sit for a Scholarship or take the Common Entrance exam in Year 8.
We are also lucky enough to have two excellent Grammar Schools in Salisbury: Bishop Wordsworth’s for boys and South Wilts for girls. Each year about one quarter of Year 6 take the 11+ exam and many are successful in gaining places. Our current pass rate is around 90%.
- In the past three years our children have won 43 Scholarships and Awards to Senior Schools
- At 13 100% of our pupils passed CE to move to the school of their choice
- Chafyn has a 90% pass rate to local grammar schools at 11+
Senior Schools attended by our former pupils include:
- King’s Bruton
- King’s Taunton
- King Edward’s, Southampton
- Monkton Coombe
- St. Mary’s Calne
- Sherborne Boys
- Sherborne Girls
- Winchester College
